Raquel Welch Fact 1: Raquel Welch was born on September 5, 1940. Family background: Her father was Armando Carlos Tejada Urquizo and her mother was Josephine Sarah Hall. Her father was of Spanish descent while her motherís family originated from England and as far back as the Mayflower

Raquel Welch Fact 2: From an early age Raquel Welch wanted to perform. She attended ballet classes from the age of seven years until she was seventeen when her teacher advised her that her body shape was not suitable for a career in ballet.

She agreed to a non-exclusive contract for a seven year term which stipulated five pictures across five years and two floater.

Raquel Welch Fact 17: During 1966 Raquel Welch appeared as the lead in Fantastic Voyage a science fiction film. She would be the last actress that made it to stardom under the old studio system.

Raquel Welch Fact 18: 20th Century loaned Raquel Welch out to Hammer Studios in England where she landed the lead role in One Million Years B.C. where her only costume was a fur bikini made of deer skin. The film was a huge success for Welch and she became a leading sex symbol as well as a pin-up girl.
