Anton Haus Fact 1: Anton Haus was born on June 13th 1851 and during the 19th century period in history when slavery would largely become abolished during this century with salve revolts in Britain, Haiti and France. In particular in America the Civil War of 1861 to 1864 saw the abolition of slavery and in England the Slavery Abolition Act saw the British Royal Navy put an end to the global slave trade.

Anton Haus Fact 14: Anton Haus died on February 2nd 1917 in Pola of pneumonia aged sixty five years. His body was laid to rest at the naval military cemetery but later when Pula came under Italian sovereignty his remains would be transferred to Vienna.
