Biography Summary: Alonso Berruguete (1488 - 1561) was a famous artist during the Renaissance era. He was born in Spain, he would be educated in Italy where he studied under the likes of Michelangelo and was born during the time of the Renaissance period. Once he returned to Spain he was favored by Charles V of Spain and would command a high price for his work. He built his own palace and became a very wealthy man. Some of his work included an altarpiece for the Irish College in Salamanca, a tomb for the Archbishop of Toledo Juan de Tavera and choir stalls for the Cathedral of Toledo.

Alonso Berruguete Fact 1: He was born during the Renaissance period in history which began in Northern Italy during the 14th century.

Alonso Berruguete Fact 2: His father died in 1504 and this prompted Alonso to travel to Italy, particularly Rome and Florence, to continue with his art studies.
